Nellie R Segar

Nellie Ruth Segar, was born in Griffin GA on April 10th , 1938 to Dave and Ruby Williams. On the morning of December 11th 2024 Nellie received her wings and went home to our Lord and Savior.

 During Nellie’s younger years the family migrated from Griffin to Cincinnati, giving the family a fresh start planting the seeds growing the family branches. As a child Nellie Ruth enjoyed spending time with her siblings as she was 1 of 18, the house was never empty and there was plenty of love to go around. Dave and Ruby instilled Education, Love, and most important a relationship with the Lord. Nellie made sure to follow through with just that, she graduated from Hughes High School in 1957. In August of the same year Nellie married best friend, Eugene Segar, from that union came three beautiful children; Maurice, Merchell and Annette. Due to Mother Ruby passing away in 1961 Nellie raised two of her younger sisters as her own, Dr. Mildred Williams-Moller and Queen Kelly. 

Nellie was no stranger to hard-work she worked little odds and ends jobs until she began working at Shillitos. After retiring from Shillitos she opened her own in-home daycare working with babies and children. Nellie could never be still, when most people her age had stopped working she continued; working as a caregiver for individuals who have special needs and the elderly. Nellie cared for others until it was time for others to care for her. 

Nellie’s life was blessed because of her dedication, she was able to enjoy traveling, not only on land but sea. She’s been some places that others have only dreamed of, Jerusalem when she was able to walk where our Lord and Savior once did. Celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary on the Carnival cruise line. But what she loved most was being right at home spending time with her family and friends. Although Nellie Ruth received Christ at a young age, her Kingdom work began after she received the Holy Ghost. She served under the leadership of Pastor Willie Martin , Pastor Christine Wagner, and Pastor Kendall. She attended Pentecostal Holiness and eventually became the Pastor. With her love for children she worked with the Children Sanctuary, Outreach Programs within the Community, making sure she was doing God’s work. Anyone that was around Nellie long enough would surely hear her favorite song “ God’s Got It All In Control “ 

Nellie Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; Dave and Ruby Williams, her brothers, Rudy, Dave Jr, John, Robert, and her sisters, Mother Catherine Ward, Elizabeth Segar, Mary, Sally Maley, and Margaret. . She leave to cherish her memory her 3 beautiful children, Maurice Segar, Merchell Britt of CA ( Kenneth Britt), Annette Edmonds ( Andre Wallace); sisters, she raised Dr. Mildred Williams Moller of CA ( Donald Moller Sr), Queen Kelly; brother, Ismael and sisters, Evelyn Alexander, Pastor Beverly Williams- Flake (Larry Flake) , and Kumba Williams. Nellie was behind blessed she had 7 grandchildren, 2 adopted grandchildren, a slew of great- grandchildren, and she moved over to great great grandmother in the summer of 2024. A huge family named “ The Williams Clan”, The Segar Family and a host of friends. Even though she’s gone she will never be forgotten, no crying or sadness she wouldn’t want that. Rejoice as she’s free and reunited with her best friend again as he’s been patiently waiting on her.
