Ronald Clayton “Bud” Crider

March 21, 1934 – September 2, 2026

Ronald Clayton “Bud” Crider, lovingly known as Pap, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. Ronnie was born on March 21, 1934, in Harlan County, Kentucky. He was a hardworking and generous man who loved his family, the outdoors, music, and dancing.

He retired from the Dayton Daily News in 1996. In retirement, you could often find him at his favorite fishing hole, teaching younger generations his love of the sport or sharing his many stories. Ronnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Janice; his son, Dougie; his parents, Bony and Mary Crider; and his siblings, Jackie Barton, Nora Lancaster, and Charles Crider.

He is survived by his children, Rhonda (Ron) Wickersham, Jeffrey (Cindy) Crider, and Tonya (John Errett) Truran; his loving companion, Dorothy Collins; his grandchildren, Jen (Roy) Schweitzer, Josh (Amanda) Wickersham, Zach Baker, Kelsy (Greg) Gross, Cassie (Ryan) Alvey, Presley (Shelby) Truran, and Spencer Truran; his siblings, Bill (Jeanne) Crider, Loretta Hays, and Barbara Crider; his favorite cousin, Frazier Gaines; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and family who adored him.

Ronnie will be remembered for his laughter, kindness, and love, which will live on in everyone who knew him. He was one of a kind and had the most infectious smile, especially while dancing. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
